Organic Olive Oil extra virgin Kalamata (PDO)
This organic extra virgin olive oil is produced by
Stylianós & Efthymίa Kotrótsis
(pictured in the centre of the photo) from Koryfasio near Kalamata in Messinia, south-west Peloponnese. They are organic farmers, oil mill operators and bottling unit owners at the same time. Since 2013 they apply the method of biocyclic-vegan farming. Their fields and processing plants are certified by Naturland and their olive oil is exclusively produced from the indigenous olive variety Koroneiki.
The biocyclic-vegan olive oil of Stylianos and Efthymia (Stelios and Efi) Kotrotsis is internationally unique because it is a "single farm product" produced by one farmer and is nor a mixture of different olive oil varieties nor of different producers. There are no factors that affect the olive oil quality negatively like transport and storage because all production and processing stages are carried out under one roof.
The family driven operation plays a pioneering role to organic farming in the region. Apart from that, Stelios and Efi Kotrotsis cultivate the first biocyclic-vegan olive grove of "Olionauts", in which a group of open-minded and nature-loving people have adopted an olive tree aiming at supporting the traditional cultivation in the region and creating a direct link between producer and consumer.
The olive oil of Stylianos and Efthymia Kotrotsis won fist place in the Olive Oil Award at Biofach 2014 in Nuremberg, Germany. In the course of a blind tasting procedure both the panel and the exhibition visitors gave top marks among 76 olive oils from the whole world. At the Biofach 2015 and 2016 the olive oil of Stylianos and Efthymia received again a recommendation!
